Abstract :
Voltage and frequency are the two parameters which determine the healthiness of the grid. Fault transients in the grid can impact Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) electrical system. These transients can degrade the performance of the NPP and can even trip the reactor. Hence, the impact on NPP electrical system by these fault transients is analyzed. Detailed Modeling of NPP electrical system and nearby grid is carried out in ETAP software. Typical transmission line faults close to the plant and at the other end of the lines in the grid are studied and analyzed. For different simulated fault cases with main and backup fault clearance, voltage pattern at various NPP buses, Turbine-Generator (TG) output current and power profiles, and typical Motor inrush currents are analyzed. Impact of fault disturbances on PFBR process system is also studied.
