Abstract
Computers are now being used extensively in manufacturing industry not only for administrative purposes but also to control engineering processes. Software-based tools are vital to the process of design and are essential in the exploitation of semiconductor technology. Those computer-aided design tools which produce visible evidence of design, in drawings and photographic artwork, address only one aspect of a much wider subject which calls for an integrated strategy.
