Abstract
The electrical conductivity of seeded (with potassium) combustion products of six varieties of Indian coal with enriched air was analytically evaluated to investigate the feasibility of using them as working fuels for coal-fired MHD (magnetohydrodynamic) generators. The analysis takes into account the effect of sulfur and ash on the conductivity of combustion products. Results indicate that Jharia coal is the optimal variety of Indian coal for use in MHD power generation
