Abstract
Maintenance management has always required the manipulation of large amounts of data, and the development of more cost-effective processing, storage and database systems has brought the use of computers to the fore in this area. This article considers the evolution of specialised equipment maintenance, the capabilities of today´s computer-aided maintenance systems and the emerging expert systems technology.
