  • Abstract
    Apparatus has been set up to apply a perturbation of continuously-variable wavelength to the axis of an optical fibre, while measuring the amount of light transmitted. The results are broadly in accordance with the theory that attenuation is caused in these conditions by the coupling of guided to radiation modes.
