Abstract :
A fibre-embedded optical isolator without a lens element is proposed and fabricated. The isolator consists of beam-expanding fibres, laminated polarisers and a Faraday rotation garnet. Backward and forward losses at 1.3 mu m wavelength are 36.9 and 1.6 dB, respectively.
