Abstract :
A broadband mixer may be designed to obtain matched conditions at the r.f. port, or the r.f. port may be mismatched to produce a minimum conversion power loss. Using a practical diode law this paper compares the performance of a broadband balanced mixer designed by the above two methods and shows that, under certain conditions, the conversion loss can be made to be independent of the diode series resistance by mismatching the r.f. port.
