Abstract
An analysis of the offset dual-patch microstrip antenna is described. Input impedance, SWR bandwidth and far-field radiation patterns are investigated. Rigorous Green functions of the complex multilayer structure are derived in the spectral domain. A moment method together with a Galerkin procedure are employed to solve for the unknown currents on the patches. Piecewise sinusoidal functions are selected as expansion and testing modes. It is found that SWR bandwidth varies significantly with sizes and locations of the metal patches. Experimental results are obtained to verify the theoretical findings
