Abstract
One of the fundamental problems of present-day civilization is the speedy adaptation of the thoughts and behavior of men to an environment teeming both with instrumentalities for the large-scale betterment of mankind or, alternatively, with implements for his utter destruction. A presentation of this situation and of the possible function of the engineer in aiding to resolve some of the grave difficulties confronting mankind is presented by a prominent broadcast engineer and pioneer who is also a Director of the Institute and its Chairman of its Standards Committee and of its Constitution and Laws Committee.
