  • Abstract
As computing environment is getting tightly coupled and synchronized to business goals with increasing complexity, the next generation applications need to be deployed and managed well. But these next generation applications, environments and information infrastructures are rapidly becoming brittle, unmanageable and insecure. And this has necessitated the increasingly complex systems to be managed by highly skilled IT professionals. But due to the complexity and heterogeneity of the computing environment, there are chances that a human error can increasingly hamper the whole environment. So, a new computing paradigm was introduced to deal with dynamism, complexity and uncertainty and this is called-Autonomic Computing. This paper aims to outline the introduction of autonomic computing and discusses the some of the issues and challenges that collectively make up the grand challenge of autonomic computing.
