Abstract :
It is shown that contrary to the comments of E.J. Dickes and D.E. Carlton (see ibid., vol.SC-17, no.6, p.1194-7, 1982) the input-output characteristic of a Schmitt trigger can be expressed by an explicit expression. Using this expression, closed-form expressions are derived for the trip points and the hysteresis of the Schmitt trigger. Results are compared with measurements reported by Dickes and Carlton
