  • Abstract
Before 1960, there were few modern texts to consider for senior course in communication systems. Since that time, an evolutionary process has been taking place with the publication of a number of books. At present it appears that the area has reached a degree of maturity, since the topics covered are largely the same in each new book published, The differences among the new books have been mostly pedagogical. Stremler??s book is no exception. The introductory chapter is mostly devoted to a brief classification of signals and systems. Only approximately one-third of the chapter, which describes the classical modem-channel model of a communication system, is a true introduction to the topic of the book as given by the title.
