Abstract :
The method of sequential quadratic programming (SQP) for the solution of nonlinear constrained optimisation problems is applied to the optimisation of induction motor design. Factors which affect the optimisation process are investigated and the influence of these factors on the performance of the technique is studied in detail. Four induction motor designs, which are already in production, have been optimised taking these factors into account
