Abstract :
We have proposed a new technique to analyze the propagation behavior of solitons in an optical fiber. This technique is based on the Fourier series analysis technique (FSAT) which can consider fiber loss and third-order dispersion. Using this technique, the propagation of solitons in an optical fiber has been investigated. The results compare well with the well-known split-step Fourier method (SSFM). We found that for a given computational accuracy, in order to obtain the same results, we need fewer sampling points for FSAT compared with the SSFM
