Abstract :
A novel approach to analyse a four-leg multilevel inverter as a model of two simple inverters in series is presented and a carrier-based SVPWM method is proposed. To obtain the optimised switching loss, the zero sequence function is controlled by redundant parameters. The PWM analysis is simplified, and the use of complicated three-dimensional SVPWM concepts is avoided.
