Abstract
Previous work on a nonvocal communications aid using the difference in light intensity transmitted from an open and closed eye used dedicated software for a microcomputer to remove spurious switching pulses caused by the patient´s involuntary blinks. Having identified a need for such a switch, which can be used with a wider range of generally available software, low cost hardware for this purpose is described and satisfactory results were achieved in tests.
