Abstract :
The various experiments carried out with the University of Saskatchewan plasma betatron are reviewed. The apparatus, having a major/minor radius of 19 cm/3 cm, a toroidal magnetic field B¿ ¿ 0.4 T and a heating field E¿ ¿ 12 kV/m, has been operated in different modes ¿ designated as betatron, tokamak and reversed - B¿. The characteristics of the turbulently heated plasma and the physical processes occurring in each mode are discussed.
