Abstract
The assumption that two electric particles are insufficient by their mutual action to develop a torque makes the Lorentz law a special case of a more general law of electrodynamics, of importance when electrodynamic closed circuit interactions involve charge carriers of different mass. Experimental anomalies evident in the mutual electrodynamic behaviour of ions and electrons are reviewed. It is argued that there is now sufficient evidence for this more general law of electrodynamics to be given attention by the electrical engineer interested in plasma and discharge phenomena.
