Abstract :
The paper describes a time-stepping analysis for a salient-pole generator feeding a rectifier load, using a finite-element field model to update inductances where appropriate to allow for changes in rotor orientation and magnetic saturation. The method includes a technique that allows skew to be represented. It is shown that if skew is not properly accounted for, spurious slot ripples will appear in the waveforms
