Abstract :
A truly achromatic ST liquid-crystal display (LCD) characterized by single-cell construction has been developed by inserting an optical retardation film between the liquid-crystal cell and the polarizer. It provides not only a high contrast ratio and a good viewing angle, comparable to a double-cell ST LCD, but also such excellent features as light weight, thin design, and low cost due to the single-cell construction
