Abstract
This paper is concerned with the use of microprocessors for control of knee joint locking and unlocking in a prosthesis or orthosis. Inputs to the controller are provided by the wearer and by artificial proprioceptive and exteroceptive sensors. The functioning of an experimental orthotic system is explained and preliminary test results obtained with normal subjects are presented.
