Abstract :
Numerical solutions of the Vlasov "dispersion relation" show that the phase velocity of ion-acoustic waves can be approximated by ¿/k = ¿Te/mi(1 + k2/kD2) + ¿iTi/mi. The effective value of ¿i varies from 3 to 4.8 for Te/Ti<60 and ¿/¿pi<0.9.
