Abstract :
A 1.2 GHz GaAs shift register integrated circuit (IC) was developed for time-to-digital convertor (TDC) readout electronics with no deadtime for a drift chamber under high hit rate condition. The memory depth was 256, making it possible to obtain sufficient delay time for a trigger decision. The preproduction ICs successfully functioned with up to a 1.2 GHz shift clock with a power consumption less than 1.2 W
