Abstract :
The authors describe the embedded diagnostics incorporated in Fermilab´s smart CAMAC controller (SCC). This software was created to assist technical personnel during the production and maintenance of SCCs. It also allows the user to identify faulty components in the experiment controlled and monitored by the CAMAC system. The software consists of a set of routines residing in EPROM (electrically programmable read-only memory) that have been appended to an existing monitor, the SCC Bug. Depending on the severity of the failure different levels of tests are provided
