Abstract
Bistability is observed in wavelength conversion using a DFB-LD with side-mode light injection. Under appropriate wavelength detuning conditions, switching and hysteresis appear between the "on" and "off" states of the original laser oscillation. Utilizing this characteristic, waveform reshaping is demonstrated at a modulation speed of 3 Gb/s.<>
