  • Abstract
    For the original article see ibid., vol. 5, no. 10, p. 349-350 (1995). It is pointed out that readers of the aforementioned paper might also benefit from work previously published in this area. Specifically, in a paper by the commenter (see IEEE Trans. Microwave Theory Tech., vol. MTT-31, no. 5, p.407-412, 1983) an iterative algorithm solving the same set of equations is presented. This algorithm is closed form and is easily extend to any number of ports in practice. In addition, the commenter feels no work on multiport microwave measurements can be complete unless it at least also mentions the extensive pioneering work of Tippet and Speciale (1982). In reply the author thanks J.C. Rautio for pointing out the additional references. However, the author stresses that the technique presented in the paper under discussion is distinct from those outlined in the comments.
