  • Abstract
Methods are described to calculate a magnetic vector potential that represents imposed source fields, required in total and reduced vector potential formulations for the quasistatic limit of Maxwell´s equations. The methods are based on either a step-by-step approach using a tree-cotree graph, or a minimisation procedure. The application of the discontinuous potential jump values on the edges of the finite-element mesh, at the interface surface between total and reduced vector potential volumes, is demonstrated through its successful application to a simple analytic problem. It is also successfully applied to a more complex topological problem, where comparison with a validated numerical solution can be made.
