Summary form only given. The administrative Committee oft he IEEE Group on Sonics and Ultrasonics takes great pleasure in announcing the selection of the Best Paper published in the 1976 IEEE Transactions on Sonics and Ultrasonics. The Best Paper Award of the G-SU for 1976 is awarded to Robert S. Wagers, author of the paper titled "Plate Mode Coupling in Acoustic Surface Wave Devices," published in the March 1976 issue. The selection was made because of its very detailed study and experimental verification of thev arious acoustic modeso f propagation possible in substrates commonly usetdo fabricate surface wave devices. The author of the Best Paper received a cash prize and a plaque to commemorate this acheivement. These were presented at the 1977 Ultrasonics Symposium, Phoenix, Arizona.
