Abstract :
The authors demonstrate a voltage-controlled distributed Bragg reflector with a very high off-state reflectivity and low-voltage operation suitable for use within a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser. The unbiased peak reflectivity approaches 99.8% at 980 nm, which may be modulated through the quantum-confined Stark effect by 1%. The mirror allows measurement of photocurrent to monitor VCSEL output power
