Abstract :
A mathematical model of mass transfer in hollow fiber hemodialyser with simultaneous dialysis and ultrafiltration is developed numerically in this study. The influence of dialysate phase flow rate, flow rate configuration (co- and counter-current) and ultrafiltration velocity are investigated. The numerical simulations show that the introduction of ultrafiltration effects in a dialysis system can improve separation as compared with the pure dialysis without ultrafiltration.
