Abstract :
In this paper, a comparison is made of measured signal strength-height curves and phase change-height curves for 3.2-centimeter radio waves with those determined from the corresponding measured modified index of refraction-height curves. In addition, values of the attenuation factor and modified index of refraction-height curves as determined from radio data are compared with the meteorologically measured modified index of refraction curves and the related attenuation factor. Four individual sets of radio data with path lengths of 12.3, 31.6, 40, and 47 miles are considered.
