Abstract :
Experiments on contradirectional nondegenerate four-wave mixing (NDFWM) in a 1.51 mu m nonresonant near-travelling-wave semiconductor laser amplifier are presented. Experimental results are in qualitative agreement with a theoretical model assuming the NDFWM process is mainly due to carrier pulsation at the beat frequency of copropagating waves in the amplifier.
