Abstract :
The number of crosspoints and spatial highways required in optical interconnection networks based on a multiple access bus are shown to be minimised by employing log2 N degrees of freedom. It is also shown that very few dimensions are required to give dramatic improvements over other, wide-sense, nonblocking space switching networks.
