Abstract :
A slight modification to a previously published band-limited Gaussian random process is considered in order to obtain a better representation of the input signal. For light clipping (⩽1%), the modified limiter reduces the distortion by approximately 3.2 dB. However, when quantization noise is added in, only a modest (<1 dB) improvement is obtained in the peak signal-to-distortion-plus-quantization-noise ratio, owing to the steepness of the distortion curve
