Abstract :
In this paper the origin of nonphysical solutions obtained with Galerkin´s method is described. To remove these spurious solutions a practical criterion is derived. It is shown on a patch resonator example with expansion functions satisfying edge conditions, that spurious solutions generated by the conventional approach are eliminated by the application of the proposed method
