  • Abstract
This paper describes how the UK-based domestic appliance manufacturer, Dyson, stretched the boundaries of design, technology and manufacturing to become a brand that epitomizes chic technology. By linking creative thought with some practical definition, the company was able to quickly resolve their thoughts and produce things that are unexpected. The company recognized early on the benefits of having design engineers involved in the manufacturing facility. This provides design engineers useful insight into how to design products better for manufacture and gives the manufacturing teams the support of creative, imaginative engineers who understand how to solve problems.
