Abstract :
Describes the development and practical implementation of self-tuning automatic voltage regulators for a synchronous generator, based on minimum-variance, pole-placement and detuned minimum-variance algorithms. The controllers have been extensively tested on a laboratory micromachine system, and shown to give good performance. Jacketting has been incorporated in the software to ensure reliable operation under the various conditions which arise in power systems.
