Abstract
A new computational program is developed for solving the inverse magnetic problem for determining the magnetic design necessary to produce a desired field pattern. The conception of an innovative source-modeling algorithm allows the program to be universally applied, unlike currently particularized methods. This new method termed Variable Field Generation (VFG) facilitates the synthesis of arbitrary magnetic designs and inversely defines new and unique magnetic systems for difficult three-dimensional magnetic field patterns. Such complex field patterns are necessary for proposed applications based on current advances in high-temperature superconductors. This paper reports the evaluation of VFG as a universal solution to the design challenges of magnet applications, including analysis of test cases for different magnetic applications using various solvers.
