Abstract :
We investigated the amplification of 80-Gb/s signals in six wavelengths spaced at 400 GHz using semiconductor linear optical amplifiers (LOAs). Interchannel crosstalk caused by four-wave mixing was observed, with 3 dB being the worst power penalty. We succeeded in transmitting these signals over 100 km of single-mode and dispersion-compensation fiber using cascaded LOAs as repeaters.
