Abstract
This paper describes role of ontologies in the field of systems which work with state space, such as expert systems. Nowadays the ontology approach provides quite innovative ways to represent knowledge in various professions and manufacturing processes are not an exception. We will focus on the possibility of using ontology during the state space creation. Idea of representing space of states using ontology could bring new approaches in modeling of manufacturing processes which is quite actual issue in today´s machine-oriented production society.
