Abstract :
A small optical disk drive for mobile electronics has been studied widely. We propose the two-dimensional actuator available to the 5-mm-thick small form factor optical disk drive. It has an asymmetric structure in both sides of the actuator. Its focusing actuation part and tracking actuation part were separated. The vibration characteristics of the asymmetric actuator model showed the potential of an extremely small actuator.
