Abstract
Amplification at 1.054 mu m using an Nd3+-doped glass waveguide is demonstrated. A gain of 3.4 dB and an efficiency of 0.027 dB/mW were obtained by using a 10 mm long waveguide pumped with an argon-ion laser. A higher efficiency of 0.079 dB/mW was observed by laser diode pumping.
