Abstract :
In this paper, the authors review the basic concepts of structural stability theory and show its application to multimachine power systems. Specifically they establish a connection between structural stability and bifurcation theory. They examine the effect of nonlinear loads as well as different sizes of induction motor loads on the structural stability limits. Detailed generator models are used in the study throughout. They conclude that in studying power system structural stability, load modeling is a crucial factor and needs more research
