Abstract
Complementary metal oxide silicon (CMOS) technology improvements in its high-frequency capability, have made it possible to consider CMOS as a low-cost alternative for realizing systems that can expand the use of the terahertz spectral range. This article gives an overview of the progress and status of emerging CMOS technology that is needed for the widespread use of the terahertz region. The future and viability of CMOS terahertz electronics are also described and highlighted.
