Abstract
It is generally thought that multivariant search methods are the most efficient to solve induction machine optimization problems. It is shown, through an example, that the use of univariant search techniques may lead to the identification of conflict problems, and help to solve them. The example is thoroughly analyzed, and it is clear that the authors´ conclusion is rather general
