Abstract :
The article provides an introduction to the new journal called IET Biometrics. IET Biometrics will take a comprehensive, empirically-based, multi-disciplinary look at the major forms of automated personal identification (API) in the context of how the technologies are being and should be used: to ensure individual security and privacy. The approach of the journal will be very clearly technical, considering algorithm, sensor and human factors advancements, but will be broad enough to consider the privacy, cultural, political and legal implications of these technologies.
