Abstract
An interlaboratory measurement comparison was conducted by the Shanghai Institute of Testing Technology in China. Four single-mode fibers, having lengths of 6, 2, 2, and 1.6 km, were used. Measurements of attenuation at 1.3 μm and 1.55 μm gave one standard-derivation spread of 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, and 0.02 dB/km at 1.3 μm and 0.01, 0.09, 0.06, and 0.05 dB/km at 1.55 μm
