Abstract
Tunable morphology and photoluminescence of uniform α-Si3N4 microribbons were obtained by a high temperature chemical vapour deposition method. Long, extra-wide and smooth ribbons with fine crystallinity exhibited variable aspect ratios on the dependence of deposition temperatures. The ribbons were identified to grow along the [210] direction and oxygen component was traced in the crystals. Tunable blue emission was demonstrated for these ribbons. The relationship between the deposition temperature, aspect ratio, oxygen content and photoluminescence are discussed.
