  • Abstract
Curve fitting is an essential ingredient in the development of numerical methods, a topic not explored here, as well as in analyzing and representing data of various kinds. When the curve fitting is done using data models based on the problem physics, a procedure referred to here as "smart" curve fitting, the approach can be even more productive. This article describes the use of model-based parameter estimation (MBPE) based on two different data models used widely in science and engineering: one uses a series of complex exponentials and the other uses a series of complex poles
