Abstract :
The dispersion characteristics of a broadside-coupled CPW are investigated using the 2D finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. Effective dielectric constants are presented as dispersion characteristics and the results for the dominant mode in a broadside-coupled CPW are compared with available data, proving the validity of this study. The results provide the dominant mode frequency bandwidth for efficient microwave circuit design and show that it is necessary to use full-wave analysis for designing millimetre wave circuits which lead to undesired high-order mode effects
